This show put together by Pete Olen about 6 months ago was originally supposed to take place at Wills Pub, but due to lack of space and the unexpected increase of ticket sales; was moved to SoundBar which is located in downtown Orlando. Doors opened promptly at 8 and the tiny venue filled up quickly; people continued to show up well into the night. The wet dreary weather was fitting for this Doomy sludge metal trifecta. Fans from all over the state came out to see the 3 band line up consisting of Junior Bruce which hails from Florida, Bell Witch and YOB. Some traveled as from Sarasota and a couple drove a surprising 5 hours, from Miami to attend.

Junior Bruce warmed up the crowd with what seemed like a super quick 6 song set opening with “The Serpent Lives.”  By the fourth song in (“Church Burner”), the venue and it’s occupants were in full swing. Every member had awesome energy and i think i can speak on behalf of everyone there with saying that I was a little bummed when they played their last song.

This show was extreme sentimental for me. I’ve waited two years to see the Seattle natives Bell Witch.  I missed out on their last tour due to the fact that the closest date was in Atlanta; so when the show was announced, a friend of mine sent me a message telling me about it and I bought my ticket the very same day. Bell Witch played their newest album, Mirror Reaper (released in late 2017) in it’s entirety. I noticed the sound was a little off for them and apparently Jesse Shreibman (drummer and guttural vocalist) felt the same way based off the way he continued to throw glares in the direction of the soundboard. Once the audio guy finally looked up, Shreibman stabbed a thumb in the direction of his band member Dylan (Desmond, bassist, clean vocals) and followed by a sharp downward motion letting him know that the vocals were too loud. Apart from the slight sound issue, Bell Witch’s set was phenomenal. I watched as people slipped into a trans-like state, eyes closed, swaying with the music.

After Bell Witch’s set, i slowly made my way to the restroom, as I was exiting i realized that there was no way possible that i was going to be able to make it back to the spot i was at or even close to it. So i hung out near the bar area. Unfortunately due to the amount of people in the crowd, I couldn’t make my way back over to area which held the stage. Even though i’m not a huge fan, I looked forward to seeing YOB’s set, but being that i was nearest the bar, i didn’t have a full view. But could hear everything. They, like Junior Bruce, played a six song set list which consisted of “Ablaze,” “The Screen,” “Breathing From the Shallows,” “The lie That is Sin,” “Adrift in the Ocean,” closing down the house with “Our Raw Heart.”  After quickly loading some stuff out, the members of YOB realized that some fans were sticking around. Mike Scheit, YOBs guitarist and vocalist decided to sit on the edge of the stage and take some time to chat and take pictures with fans.
