Grammy-nominated singer and actor Josh Groban spoke with members of the media on the red carpet of the “Only Make Believe” GALA, which took place on Monday, October 13th at the Schubert Theatre in Manhattan.

“Only Make Believe” creates interactive theatre experiences directly with children in hospitals, special education schools, and care facilities.
Inspiring joy and imagination, its professional actors engage children with medically fragile conditions and developmental disabilities, fostering vital social and emotional growth.
This year’s “Only Make Believe” GALA honored Dame Anna Wintour, DBE, CH with the “James Hammerstein Award.”

“It feels great to be here. I love this organization,” Groban said about “Only Make Believe.”
“They are doing such great work, and they are putting smiles on so many faces out there… they use art for healing, bringing people together, and to inspire, especially the kids that need art the most,” he elaborated.
“This organization is doing God’s work, so the fact that they are here celebrating and honoring that work at this beautiful Broadway theater, which I miss so much, is extremely rewarding,” Groban acknowledged.
Stage of his life
On the title of the current chapter of his life, Groban revealed, “Inspirational transition.”
“It’s a fun time to be trying new things, to be branching out and to be learning,” he explained. “Also, I am a student. I want to keep learning and to keep growing, so I am trying to surround myself with people who help me grow.”

Josh Groban’s Find Your Light Foundation is dedicated to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to experience a quality arts education, which is best achieved through direct support of exceptional arts programs combined with education, advocacy and outreach.
Josh took the grassroots passion his fans shared with him for arts education and created Find Your Light. As someone who himself was inspired at a young age through his own arts classes, Groban deeply wants to pay it forward.
In 2025, the Find Your Light Foundation provided support to 189 arts education programs in 33 different states.
“When I am searching for inspiration myself, I find it in the people that are closest to me,” he admitted.
“Honestly, it is important to support our teachers and our art programs because they are on the frontline, and they are making sure that our young people across the country can express themselves more clearly,” Groban elaborated.

Regarding the significance of “Find Your Light” Foundation, Groban said, “It is important to support our education programs, support our public broadcasting, and be a fan. Choose joy!”
“Whenever I get too beside myself, I say to myself, ‘what am I going to go out and love today?’ That’s what I do to ensure the light is where it is supposed to be again,” the “You Raise Me Up” singer noted.

On the power of storytelling, Groban underscored, “If you’ve got a story to tell, whether it’s in a song or in a show or a play, just focus on telling the story and the rest of it will come.

When asked if there will ever be a duet with fellow tenor and friend Mario Frangoulis, Groban responded, “I love Mario! That would be great!”
