Nathan James Talks About His New Music, Future Plans

Rocker Nathan James chatted about his new music, future plans, and the digital age.

How did “Alienation” come about?

I struggle with extreme anxiety and I take Lexapro medication for it and I was going through one of the worst attacks ever when I was writing my album “Hollywood Mortician,” and specifically this song ‘Alienation,’ I felt like an alien in my own body and it was really hard for me to just be anywhere but my room, and that is how this entire song came about.

What inspires your music and songwriting?

I like to literally write about how I feel or what I’ve gone through or what I am currently going through.

How does it feel to be an artist in the digital age? (Now with streaming, technology, and social media being so prevalent)

I definitely wouldn’t have been able to be a music artist unless these things existed, so I’m very grateful and hope to be doing this for a very long time.

I would like to be like Ozzy Osbourne and do this until I need a cane to keep walking.

What do your plans for the future include?

My first album, “Hollywood Mortician,” more tour, more music, more music videos.

Were there any moments in your career that have helped define you?

Yes, my first sort of small breakthrough moment or two songs, “The Hanged Man” and my song, “Secrets of the Shadows.”

Which artists would you like to do a dream collab with someday?

Marilyn Manson.

What is your advice for young and emerging artists?

No excuse, just produce.

What would you like to say to your fans about the new music? (What’s the one thing you want them to get out of it?

Never stop being a warrior, always fight for what you believe in, and don’t let anyone bring you down.

Outside of his music, Nathan James is a fully independent “Photographer Rockstar.”

He is one of the most desired entertainment photographers behind some of the industry’s most iconic shots of music icons including Lil Wayne, Justin Bieber, Machine Gun Kelly, Avril Lavigne, and Post Malone, among others.
