Walker Montgomery is serving fans a taste of some of the old school, throwback country he does best in his latest single, “Strangers Like Us,” which is out today.
The bourbon-soaked barroom weeper calls to mind George Strait’s retro country classic “The Chair,” and perfectly suits Montgomery’s smooth traditional vocals. The song drops in on a budding romance between two broken-hearted souls on barstools who are looking to lick their wounds and forget the ones who broke their hearts with something 100 proof. United by the sting of loss, they come together and become less like strangers as the night wears on in the new ballad, which is sure to become a future favorite among classic country fans everywhere.
“This song might feel, old but it’s brand new. It’s about an experience that everyone has been through, losing in love and drowning your sorrows with the first kind stranger you meet at the bar. Getting over that old flame and starting new one up,” says Montgomery.
The song is the latest from Montgomery, who continues his busy tour schedule through the fall with upcoming shows in Tulsa, Jonesboro, Amarillo and more through the end of the year.
