Country Thunder — the largest Country music festival brand in North America — reveals the latest episode of its fan-favorite podcast, “On the Bus with Troy Vollhoffer,” today (4/17). With season two firing on all cylinders, episode five’s guest is none other than rapidly rising Georgia Country star Gavin Adcock red hot off his 2025 ACM Award nomination for New Male Artist of the Year. Watch and listen to new episodes on all podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and Amazon Music.
As always, host Troy Vollhoffer engages Adcock in a career-spanning conversation that’s both hilarious at moments and honest throughout. The buzzing phenomenon describes his childhood on a family farm in rural Georgia and ambitions to be a pro bull rider after watching Eight Seconds with his dad. A college football injury led to a turning point, and he ultimately healed by placing all of his energy into playing guitar and penning songs. Renowned for anthems like “A Cigarette” and “Ain’t No Cure,” he candidly treasures the power of music and its effect on listeners.
“My favorite part about it is just knowing that I’ve got problems that they don’t know about,” he goes on. “They’ve got problems I don’t know about, but they relate to the music, and it hits them in a certain way that it hit me when I wrote it and they just can zone out from everything else they got going on.” Emerging as a workhorse on tour, he divulges his appreciation for life on the road. He admits, “I love waking up in a new town, going to get a cup of coffee, being a tourist, basically going to check out somewhere you’ve never been, the different landscapes, and it’s basically just a different world everywhere you go and I’m enjoying it.”
Moreover, Adcock applauds his fans for cutting loose like no other. “I’ve literally seen dudes get so into the song, they just launch the beer in the air like a firework,” he laughs. “I feel like they just had an out-of-body experience!”
Earlier this month, “On the Bus with Troy Vollhoffer” welcomed ACM Award-winning and history-making North Dakota-born duo Tigirlily Gold — sisters Kendra and Krista Slaubaugh.
Leveling up, the popular podcast expanded to now include video as season two gains traction, landing at #1 in Music among Apple Podcasts in the U.S. with already featured episodes including MULTI-PLATINUM rising star Koe Wetzel, top booking agents Rod Essig, Curt Motley, and Nick Meinema, and MULTI-PLATINUM Country superstar Dustin Lynch – whose episode launched in the Top 1% of all podcasts. Making waves, MusicRow just touted the podcast and Amazon Music has included it in their Featured Podcasts.
The show is hosted by Country Thunder owner and founder Vollhoffer. With cameras rolling and tape running, he engages in funny and freewheeling discourse with A-list Country talent as well as buzzing acts. The episodes are filmed from Vollhoffer’s tour bus and home studio, providing an unfiltered vignette into the lives of artists as they tell stories, recall memories, and share unwavering passion for music.
During season one, Vollhoffer played host to Country music royalty with a string of fascinating, funny, and enlightening conversations. The roster included Dierks Bentley, Jon Pardi, Bailey Zimmerman, Ashley McBryde, Nate Smith, Marty Stuart, Parker McCollum, Terri Clark, and Big Kenny, among others.
The podcast stands out as a must-listen for Country afficionados and music fans at large. Boasting an intimate format, exclusive content, and an elite lineup of all-star guests, there’s nothing quite like it.
Last weekend, the bus stopped at Country Thunder Arizona from April 10-13 where major headliners such as Keith Urban, Riley Green, HARDY, Bailey Zimmerman, and more took the stage at Canyon Moon Ranch. Playing their top hits and fan-favorites, the stacked lineup added heat to the Arizona desert.
