Famed Heavy Metal Drummer Dead at 73

Legendary drummer Les Binks, known for his time with Judas Priest has died, the band announced on Instagram. He was 73.

The band sends their love to his family, friends and fans, adding that the drumming he provided to the band was first class. His demonstrated “unique techniques, flair, style and precision,” the post said.

“Thank you Les – your acclaim will live on…..,” the post further said.

Binks, whose birth name is James Leslie Binks and was born in Northern Ireland, was a part of the group for two years and played on their fan-favorite albums “Stained Class” and “Killing Machine,” Billboard reported. It also said that Binks held that position in the band’s lineup for a “few crucial years in the late 1970s.”

Rolling Stones reported a cause of death has not been revealed but did say Binks died peacefully at a London hospital.
