2 Days; 2 Cities
January 14 & 15, 2017
by: Gail Gerdes

It’s almost January in Florida, and that means it’s time for the annual Sunshine Music Festival to bring some great music to the state. And this year promises to be bigger and better yet! Once again headlined by the award-winning Tedeschi Trucks Band, the 2017 Sunshine Music Festival features an amazing line-up yet of exciting acts on two live music stages along with a larger selection of refreshing craft beers, fine wines and delectable menus. The Festival will kick off Saturday, January 14, 2017, NOON, at Vinoy Park, St. Petersburg in the Tampa Bay Area and then Sunday, January 15, 2017, NOON at Mizner Park Amphitheater, Boca Raton in South Florida. These are the only two dates slated for the Tedeschi Trucks Band in Florida so far in the 2017 tour. After spinning around the mid-west for a while, they will be embarking on their European Tour starting in March, 2017.

For the fourth year in a row the Grammy-winning husband and wife team, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, along with their band Tedeschi Trucks Band, or TTB as their loyal fans prefer to call them, headline what is fast becoming their signature Festival. They are coming off of a year in which they released their new CD, and third studio album Let Me Get By in early 2016. This new CD is a must have for their fans. This year features a great mix of some of TTB’s favorite contemporary artists and longtime musical inspirations. Highlights by Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, his Grateful Dead Tribute Band; Bruce Hornsby, a mid-8o’s rock star and musician’s musician; Mavis Staples, an R&B icon who toured with Bob Dylan this summer; Dave Mason, with a solo career many decades long and founding member of group Traffic; Railroad Earth, “a souped-up string band” according to one of its members; North Mississippi Allstars, a high energy, three piece blues infused rock and roll group; and Greyhounds, a soulful Austin duo of keys and guitar. This two-city festival will have the same line-up at both St. Petersburg and Boca Raton.

There will be plenty of food, drink and music at this festival and tickets for this show would be a great Holiday gift. There are still tickets available at Ticket Master and www.LiveNation.com for all levels; General Admission, Reserved Seating, Balcony (at Boca Raton), and the VIP Sunshine Experience Package, but they are going fast. You can find all the information you need at www.sunshinemusicfestival.com. There are also some hotels in both locations who have partnered with the festival to bring you some special rates, so check that out on their website as well.

Come out and enjoy the beautiful Florida sunshine at the appropriately named, 2017 Sunshine Festival this January. This is guaranteed to be epic.
