Steven Tyler (Ruth Eckerd Hall - Clearwater, FL) - 8/29/16
By: Liz Stokes
One of the most notable rock artists of all time came to the Tampa Bay area to bring County music to Ruth Eckerd Hall. Steven Tyler who is best known for his jaw dropping wide range of vocals and the lead singer of Aerosmith, performed Monday night to a sold out crowd of fans. His performance was outstanding as he brought his band from Nashville to play some of his songs off his first "country" album, "We're All Somebody From Somewhere," and of course a lot of Aerosmith songs.
Steven started the night with the Aerosmith song, "Sweet Emotion" to get the crowd ready for the fun filled night. And while performing his songs, in the background was video clips from Steven's past as it added an intimate look into the life of Steven Tyler. After several Aerosmith songs and a few Beatles songs, "Come Together" and "I'm Down," Steven sang his first country song, "We're All Somebody From Somewhere," off the album title track and it debuted at #1 on the country charts the week of its release.
Although Steven's "country" songs sound more southern rock, he didn't disappoint the crowd. Some critics were skeptical about Steven getting into the country scene, but that didn't stop him from doing it and from the sounds of the fans, it was the right choice. The night consisted of some great classic songs like "Come Together," "Walk This Way," and of course while playing the piano, he belted out his signature song, "Dream On." It was a truely great show and if you ever get the opportunity to see him live, it will be worth the wait!
Monday night's show was the only Florida date that Steven had for the "Out On A Limb" tour and as I mentioned before, it was a sold out show and we hope that he comes back soon so more people can enjoy the show. Being held at Ruth Eckerd is always a joy because there is no bad seat in the house and it gives such an intimate feeling that you don't get in a stadium.
