By: Liz Stokes
Rob Thomas and Counting Crows teamed up for a concert in Tampa on Saturday July 23rd at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre. This was the first time that these powerhouse bands co-headlined together despite being friends for over 20 years.
Rob Thomas, better known as the voice of Matchbox Twenty, a mutiplatinum-selling band and the multiple Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter, best known for songs like 3am and Unwell as well as Smooth and Lonely No More. Rob Thomas performed all of these songs for the crowd that night. He was very energetic and entertaining on stage and was a breathe of fresh air to watch. His voice was very strong and had so much emotion in each and every song he sang. He put on an awesome show and even though it was extremely hot out, he was dancing all over the stage. He even had to change his shirt mid-show because it was soaked! Seeing Rob Thomas, whether or not it's him solo or with Matchbox Twenty, he is outstanding to watch and really interacts with the crowd. He and his band sounded very solid and you could tell that they were enjoying playing for the crowd.
It was a great show and he had the crowd pumped up for the Counting Crows! Adam Duritz and the rest of the Counting Crows came on stage and put on a very passionate and entertaining show singing many of their hits including, Mr Jones, A Long December and Time and Time Again, to name a few. They played all their hits old and new, and continued to rock the crowd through out the night. It's was a great show seeing both of these bands play, so if you haven't seen them. You need to go to a show and since this was only their 2nd show of the tour, there are many other cities that they will be playing.
Counting Crows and Rob Thomas started their 40 plus date tour beginning in West Palm Beach, Fl on July 22nd and will be wrapping up their tour together in Nashville, TN on September 30th.
